Most returns in online ethnic wear happen for one reason: the size chart was ignored. Kurti sizing in India is not standardised, so an L from one label can fit like an M from another. Here is a simple way to get it right the first time.
Measure yourself once, use it forever
Take three measurements over light clothing with a soft tape. Bust: around the fullest part, tape level at the back. Waist: at your natural waist, the narrowest point above the hip. Hip: around the widest part, usually about 20 cm below the waist.

As a general guide, M fits a bust of about 38 inches, L about 40 inches, XL about 42 inches and XXL about 44 inches. Always check the specific chart on the product page, because cut and fabric change the fit.
Fabric changes the fit
Pure cotton has almost no stretch and can shrink slightly after the first wash, so if you are between sizes, size up. Rayon drapes and forgives, so your usual size is usually right. Linen relaxes with wear. Cotton silk is the least forgiving, so measure carefully.
Think about the silhouette you want
Straight and A-line kurtis sit close to the body, so go by your bust and hip measurement. Anarkali styles flare from the yoke, so the bust measurement matters most. Co-ord sets need the hip and waist to work as much as the top.
